Tech News: OLX revealed why they are shutting down in Nigeria

OLX is one of the giant online market store owned by Nasper where you buy and sell items or buy exchange good and services through web or mobile. 

According to recent news across the media which was posted here that OLX has shutdown their office due to one reason or other but the owner have come boldly to express explicitly the reason behind the action.

OLX has covered up to over 40 countries and including Nigeria but due to current issue on ground, Nigeria office will be shutting down by March this year which will affect many of their workers.

According to report, Uche Nwagboso, Public Relations and Communications Lead of OLX Nigeria, responding to an email, the company confirmed it made a decision to consolidate its business operation in Nigeria and has made provision for financial compensation for the workers that will be affected.
“We made a difficult but important decision in Nigeria to consolidate our operations between some of our offices internationally. Our marketplace will continue to operate here – uninterrupted – as it has since 2010, and we remain committed to the many people here who use our platform to buy and sell every month.
“We continue to be focused on constantly innovating to make sure that OLX remains the top classified platform in the country. Of course, we are committed to helping our affected colleagues during this transition and have already offered them meaningful financial and other support.
“As we’ve expressed to them directly, we are extremely grateful for their many significant contributions to OLX’s success,” Uche Uwagboso said.

Be reminded that Konga had been sold, DSTV and Gotv will be shutting down very soon, Nigeria bad economy has really brought about many company leaving why some being sold to another individual or company. Hope you are aware that Konga have been sold to Zinox group on the same reason. Just in 2015 Efritin closed don due to high cost of doing business in Nigeria and Federal Government Tax. 

The doesn't speak well of Nigeria at any platform, something needed to be done by our government on the current disappearing of companies in Nigeria.
